SALUTE - TRUE MAGIC

The brief: Japanese car ads from the 80s. Salute‘s album design focussed around the inner gatefold. Making the outer sleeve contrast with the maximal aesthetic was a must to allow the hero to stand out and take you into a new world when unboxing the vinyl. Track list, credits and slogans weave in amongst the imagery mimicking a car manual. Custom tread marks for the inner sleeves that continue onto the B side and hub caps for the A side.

PART OF THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

Starting off with 80s japanese car advertisements and dozens of photos of the artist from a shoot. The centre of this brief is maximalism. Developing differing type and image layouts was integral in creating this artwork. Working with the artist and creating multiple itterations cemented the design and type elements that fit the 80s  aesthetic with a techy feel.
