BONOBO - DIAL ‘M’ FOR MONKEY

20 years since this record was released. The brief was simple, take the existing artwork and give it a twist, come up with something a bit more current The album layers are deceptively simple, delicate melodies and instrumental touches over rock steady beats make a compelling listen. Making simplicity centre stage the original outer sleeve’s image grid was removed. And the original red graphic elements remained the same.

Playing on the album name ‘Dial’, I created a die-cut sleeve with a rotating mechanism to display the original images through a viewfinder. The listener dials the wheel to view different pictures that are seamlessly blended.

The original photos were reworked and retouched to a print standard and moved to the inner sleeves that were originally plain white. I paired the design with crystal clear vinyls to reflect the transparent outer sleeve.
